Ingredients for 4 people:
  • 8 peppers
  • half kg. of mixed minced beef and pork
  • an onion
  • an egg
  • 100 g. of breadcrumbs
  • 100 g. of fresh cheese
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • salt
  • pepper

Preparation:

Start the preparation by cutting the peppers, already cleaned of the seeds, in half. After preparing the mixture with the minced meat, the egg, the fresh cheese, the breadcrumbs, the eggs, the onion, the salt and the pepper, mixing carefully to obtain a homogeneous mixture, proceed to fill the halves of the peppers with this delicious filling.

It is advisable to put more breadcrumbs on the surface of the peppers, in order to create a crunchy crust once cooked. To further enrich the flavor, you can also add a few cubes of fresh cheese on top of the stuffed peppers, which melt during cooking, giving an irresistible taste.

Subsequently, the stuffed peppers are placed in a pan previously oiled or lined with baking paper and baked at 200°C for about 45 minutes, or until the surface is golden and browned and the inside of the peppers is well cooked and succulent. The aroma that is released during cooking is delicious and inviting, making the wait even more delicious.

Once the stuffed peppers are perfectly cooked, you can remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving them as a second course. The combination of flavours, with savory ground beef, cream cheese and the sweetness of caramelized onion, makes this dish hearty and satisfying on the palate.

To complete the meal, we recommend pairing these delicious stuffed peppers with a full-flavored red wine, such as an Aglianico from Puglia with its notes of balsamic essences and soft tannins, or a Sicilian Nero D’avola with intense aromas of red berries and carob, which go perfectly with the intense and decisive flavors of stuffed peppers. This combination will make the meal complete and tasty, perfect for a special dinner or to delight guests with a dish rich in flavor and tradition.
