Vesuvio pizza is ideal for an informal dinner with friends or a relaxing evening with the family. A homemade pizza that will surely conquer the palate of all diners!

By following these simple steps, you will have a delicious and tasty Vesuvio pizza with tomato, olives, capers and anchovies. From spreading the leavened dough to arranging the ingredients, each step is important to guarantee the perfect result of the pizza.

To obtain a perfect Vesuvio pizza, it is important to prepare the leavened dough with care. You can follow the instructions provided by this link or buy ready-made pasta at a bakery or supermarket. Once the dough is obtained, roll it out on a sheet of floured baking paper and place it on a baking sheet. Roll it out with the help of a rolling pin or with your hands, being careful not to tear the dough. Before starting to prepare the other ingredients, let the dough rest for a few minutes, to allow it to relax and regain some leavening. In this way, your Vesuvio pizza will be softer and lighter on the palate.

Leaving the capers in the water to dissolve the excess salt will prevent the taste from being too salty. So put 20 capers in the water for 10 minutes and then rinse them in running water. Let them dry on a tea towel ready for use.

Spread the peeled or peeled tomatoes without seeds and very finely chopped on top of the leavened dough, the chopped anchovies, the pitted olives, the capers, the oregano, the salt and the pepper.

The freshness of the fresh tomato will make the pizza even tastier, but if you don’t have the possibility to use it, you can choose the peeled tomato or the ready-made tomato puree.

Put the pizza in the preheated oven at 220 degrees for 15 minutes, then when you see that the dough is golden, add the chopped mozzarella. Meanwhile, you can chop the mozzarella into small pieces.

Keep in the oven for another 5 minutes until the mozzarella is stringy. If you want a touch of freshness, add fresh basil leaves to the freshly baked pizza.

Finally, serve the pizza hot and cut into slices. You can accompany the pizza with a cold beer or a glass of red wine to enhance the savory flavors of the capers and olives.

If you prefer, you can also cut the pizza into small squares and serve it as an appetizer.

Enjoy your meal!
